Design of power and automation systems
Concept and developed design, switchgear, control and automation technology
I am Benjamin Rähmer, an electrical engineer. With DIGIMATA engineering, I design, calculate and assess electrical installations in critical infrastructure – and develop the embedded electronics that measure, protect and control them.
Eight services in four stages – from design to expertise. Each stage builds on the one below, and every service is available on its own or as part of an end-to-end project.
Concept and developed design, switchgear, control and automation technology
PLC programming, FPGA, SoC, IoT, microcontrollers, PCB layout through to a working sample
Network modelling with DIgSILENT PowerFactory, short-circuit calculation, protection coordination, relay settings
Airflow and thermal simulation, cooling concepts, hot-spot analysis
Redundancy and failure analyses of critical infrastructure, catalogue of measures
Expert opinions, technical statements, second opinions, interim technical management
Responsible electrically skilled person under DIN VDE 1000-10, inspection organisation under DGUV Regulation 3, support with the operator’s duties
In-house seminars and hands-on training for up to 12 participants, course materials included
I combine electrical power engineering with digital hardware design. I have deepened the first over more than 15 years in data centres – from data centre support technician to technical director. I have taught the second at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences since 2019.
That is where my added value lies: I understand what the installation demands – short-circuit currents, protection schemes, selectivity, operational safety – as well as the hardware that captures and processes measurement signals in real time. No friction between power engineering and electronics development.
Responsible for the technical guidelines for electrical and mechanical systems; building up the electrical safety organisation as gVEFK.
Built and runs the FPGA lab; teaches digital design in VHDL.
Analysed energy data with regression models and physics-based machine learning to forecast capacity demand.
Grade 1.0 (top German grade) · Friedrich Dessauer Foundation award. The bachelor’s thesis on load flow and selectivity analysis was likewise graded 1.0 and received the same award.
Project-based and flexible in scope – remote or on site with you.
You describe the task, the installation and your timeline – by phone, by email or on site.
You receive a tailored proposal: at a day rate, or at a fixed price where the scope is clearly defined.
Calculation, design or development – remote or on site, invoiced according to progress.
A traceable report, a sound model or a working prototype – with a hand-over briefing on request.
Give me a short outline of your task – I will get back to you with an initial assessment. I work in German and English.
